The Fintech Job Market: An Update on Hiring and Open Positions

As we look back on the past year, it’s clear that the fintech segment had a rough 2024. Despite the rapid growth during the pandemic and its immediate aftermath, the sector faced an abrupt shutdown and unexpected acquisition of accounting startup Bench. However, as we revisit the hiring landscape, it becomes evident that some fintech companies are still growing and expanding their teams.

A Call for Fintech Companies Hiring

In an effort to understand just how many fintechs might be looking to fill open positions, I put out a call several months ago asking for fintech companies that were actively hiring. The response was overwhelming – within just over an hour, I received more than a dozen responses, and over the span of a few days, I heard from over 60 companies.

The Sheer Number of Responses

The sheer number and quality of responses were surprising even to me, someone who writes about this space regularly. This was not expected, given the current state of the fintech job market. While some companies are indeed slowing down their hiring processes, others continue to grow and expand their teams.

Revisiting the Job Market

Upon revisiting this topic a few months later, I found that while fintechs are still hiring, many of them don’t have as many open roles as they once did. However, there are still plenty of open positions available, and some companies are even hiring for more roles than they were a few months ago.

TechCrunch is Not a Job Board

It’s essential to note that TechCrunch isn’t a job board. This article is not a comprehensive listing of all available fintech jobs. However, it can serve as a valuable resource for those looking for opportunities in the sector. If you were recently laid off, are a recent graduate, or simply seeking a change, this list can be an excellent starting point.
